Description
Have you ever mined for gold?
My husband and I try our hand at it every spring!
Driving out of Kitchener into the countryside last April, we began our search—not on the hilltops but in the valleys. This particular marsh was found somewhere west of Cambridge.
Equipped with boots and camera, we parked quickly when a marsh finally came into view. We were simply dazzled by SPLASHES OF GOLD amongst the crimson dogwood bushes!
From the bedraggled bulrushes rimming the marsh, we could hear red-winged blackbirds calling back and forth. The flash of red epaulets on Father Red-wing’s shoulders excited us when he flew across the marsh.
Using my photos as reference—and many brush strokes later—marsh marigolds bloomed on canvas—Splashes of Gold!
